Let’s Talk about Air Conditioning and The Spring in Renton

Spring rains are just starting to fall but it is not too early to talk about this summer.  Moreover, it is not too early to talk about keeping your house cool this summer.  Do you get a steady breeze off Lake Washington or get a nice airflow up in Fairwood?  We cannot rely on mother nature to keep us comfortable anymore.  Either way, you want to make sure that you take care of your HVAC system now before the first 85° day because you do not want to be in either of these two places:

  1.  It is going to get hot and when it does, HVAC Techs can start to schedule weeks out due to the sudden demand as everyone turns their air conditioning on.
  2. It is going to get hot and when it does, you do not want to be put on a waiting list for indoor coils to ship out of the midwest for 6 weeks.

If you already have an existing HVAC system that can deliver cool air, now is a great time to have a technician out to do a safety and maintenance inspection to get your peace of mind, so when you power up your unit, it actually makes cold air!  But, what if you do not have any kind of air conditioning in your home?  Trusted Plumbing and Heating has you covered!

Give us a call and set up an appointment with an advisor to come out to your home.  The advisor will take pictures of your existing equipment, take pictures of where the outdoor condenser will go, measure windows, and ask about what kind of insulation your home has.  We follow steps like these because we want to know the following:

  • What do you want the system to do?  Are you looking for just making 73° no matter how warm or cold it is outside?  Do you want energy-efficient units that give you the most bang for your buck?
  • What kind of equipment do you currently have and what kind of upgrades will work with it?
  • Do you want an AC unit, a heat pump, or a mini-split ductless system?  We can cover what each does and what advantages they have over one another.  Think of it like trying to decide where to go to get a bite in Renton, Flying Monkey Pizza, or the Berliner.
  • What size of equipment does your home need by us doing a hands-on ‘load calc’ or ‘Manual J Calculation?’

The ‘load calc’ or ‘Manual J,’ is so very important for a few different reasons.  First and foremost, the size of equipment is so very important because a system that is too small for a house will never be able to make it warmer/cooler as needed.  If the equipment is too big for your home, the system cannot run in a full cycle, and over time that can cause serious damage to the equipment as it cannot cycle through all of its higher gears.

If you have thought about what it would take to keep your home comfortable this summer and fall, give Trusted Heating and Plumbing a call.
